On February 21st, 72 project management volunteers partnered with 29 nonprofit representatives to support 18 mission-driven projects.
This is included five University of Maryland graduate students and two subject matter experts.
In just one day, these teams built actionable plans designed to accelerate critical initiatives and expand each organization’s ability to serve its community.

This year’s event showcased the power of collaboration, expertise, and service. By pairing experienced project managers with nonprofits facing complex challenges, PMDOS® creates a structured environment where ideas quickly turn into executable strategies.

The Result?
Nonprofits left not just inspired, but equipped with clear, practical plans to move their work forward.
At its core, the Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS®) is about access—providing nonprofits with pro bono, professional project management support that might otherwise be out of reach.

The Process?
Through a thoughtful matching process, each nonprofit is paired with a team of project managers, and, when needed, additional subject matter experts in areas such as marketing, finance, and technology.

Together, they spent the day scoping and planning high-impact projects, ensuring that every organization walks away with a roadmap for success.

Since its inception, PMDOS® has continued to grow both in scale and impact. What began as a single event has evolved into a global movement, driven by a shared belief that project management is a powerful force for social good.

Today, that vision extends beyond a single day.
As the founders reflected during the program’s 12th anniversary, the initiative was built on a simple but profound idea: combining professional expertise with community passion can transform outcomes for nonprofits and the people they serve.

Through ongoing programs like Continuous Value Delivery, PMDOS® provides year-round support, helping organizations sustain momentum long after the event ends.

The success of the 2026 D.C. Regional PMDOS® is a testament to the dedication of its volunteers, partners, and sponsors. Whether contributing time, expertise, or resources, each participant played a role in advancing meaningful work across communities.
Together, they demonstrated what’s possible when mission-driven organizations and skilled professionals align around a common goal.
Changing the world, one project at a time.
