Thank you for your interest in Construction Management education opportunities from the University of Maryland (UMD) Project Management Center for Excellence.

We offer 3 different options so you can choose what works best for your needs.

Undergraduate Minor in Construction Project Management – The minor is open to any student enrolled in the Maryland’s School of Engineering or the School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation that have earned at least 60 credit hours (junior standing) and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Completion of the minor will provide students with a solid understanding of construction project management concepts, tools, and techniques plus be a productive member of project teams. Due to the presence of this minor, Maryland construction companies heavily recruit graduates from Maryland’s Engineering programs.

Master of Engineering in Project Management – This master’s program offers complete flexibility to students. It consists of ten (10) courses that could be completed either part-time or full time and either on campus or online. The program requires ten (10) three-credit hour courses and is designed with a foundation of five core courses and a series of five electives that enable students to select topics of greatest interest. There are enough construction related electives to provide a full master’s concentrated in Construction Management.

Construction Management Professional Certificate – We have partnered with edX to deliver a FREE online self-paced Professional Certificate. It is comprised of four individual courses that are convenient, affordable and can be implemented immediately. The content of each course is free for the normal course duration of 4-5 weeks. Rest assured, you would have plenty of time to complete the free course as long as you were consistent about going through the online videos and other materials. Optionally, for a small fee, you can choose to verify your skills, via quizzes and a final test, to earn an ‘official’ certificate that could be presented to your employer or other entity.

Construction Employers – If you are interested in letting our students know about job opportunities or if you would like to set up an event to meet our students, please contact our Marketing Coordinator, kfrankle@umd.edu
