Learn how projects are managed and how project teams function. Prepare key project documents including work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets, and risk management plans. Learn to use Microsoft Project and other computer based tools for managing projects and tracking project schedule, budgets, and risks. Develop and present project information using PowerPoint and lead class discussions. Learn project management ethics and professional standards.

Topics

Project management fundamentals

This topic covers the five phases of project management as identified by the Project Management Institute and teaches key skills for each area. The final topic covers project risks and how an effective project manager plans and manages risks throughout the project life-cycle.

Teams

Students will learn about and experience working within effective project teams.

International and National Standards

ISO 21500:2012 and ANSI/PMI 99-001-2017 Standards for Project Management (PMBoK 6th Edition)

Simulation

Students will apply the knowledge learned within a smart building simulation.
