Welcome to the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering’s Center for Excellence in Project Management.

The mission of the Center is threefold:
1. To provide a high quality, challenging education in project management that encompasses breadth and depth; and prepare graduates to be proficient as both contributing members of project teams and excellent project managers.
2. To maintain a strong research program that is recognized for excellence in project management.
3. To provide project management training & development service to the University, the profession, and the community at large.

Our academic program was the first program in an engineering school to be accredited by the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Global Accreditation Center. We are also designated by PMI as a “Global Registered Educational Provider".

2009 Strategic Plan Summary

Announcing the Summer Institute for Project Management Faculty

The global growth of interest in project management has lead to the rapid expansion of university programs that offer individual courses and degrees in project management – from less than 12 in 1999 to 2,260 and counting in 2009. These institutions represent over 550 degrees and over 200 certificate programs.  Project management education is rapidly emerging as a highly desirable degree, and as a result, there is a deep need to develop qualified faculty to meet the demand at the college and university level.  The Summer Institute (SI) is envisioned as an intensive 3-day immersion program in the art of project management education. There are two focus areas for the SI, adult learning theory and the art and science of project management.  The group of distinguished speakers represent both the industry and academic perspective.  To learn from practitioners and successful academic programs, follow the link and register or reserve your space now.
