The Maryland Graduate Certificate in Engineering (GCEN) in Project Management (PM) equips engineering leaders with essential project management knowledge and skills through a flexible, four-course program, empowering them to advance their careers and excel in managing complex projects. The GCEN in PM is offered through the Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering (MAGE). Completion of this four course set will provide students with a competitive advantage in the workplace.

This academic certificate is designed for two types of students:

  1. For students enrolled in any graduate engineering degree program in the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering that want to learn the fundamentals of project management, or
  2. As a stand-alone Certificate Program for students who only want to earn the certificate, not a full masters degree. The four courses could be used as credit towards a full maters degree if the student decides to to convert later.

This graduate certificate requires 12 credit hours (4 courses). The program is designed with a foundation of two core courses and two electives. All courses are shown below.

Students can choose to brand themselves by completing courses in a concentration area.  Concentration options to consider.

Core Course Option

For the core courses, students must choose to take either ENCE607 or ENCE665 as a core course. However, the other course can be taken as an elective.
